Simply Tuesday...

I have busted my hump the last couple of days getting things done around here.

Let me tell you...I feel the pain. My heart is willing, but my body says...what the hell are you doing to me?

My yard work is not for the faint of heart. It's tough doing things by yourself, especially when you are in my age range.

I'm no Spring Chicken anymore...but I refuse to lay down and pass the buck...or spend the bucks...when I can do it on my own. I'm just not as fast as I use to be. I'll get it done...

On another note:

One of my girls has a B-day tomorrow. Who is it?

She is blond, beautiful, and a sweetheart with a heart of gold.

Come back tomorrow and find out...who this lovely lady is.

Weekend Report...

I believe my To-Do list will become almost nonexistent by next week. I'm off to a good start...

But, is that always a good sign? Sometimes it is...sometimes it ain't.

Most folks, will goof off for a few days, then, try to get motivated and tackle "The List".

I like to hit the ground running...

Get ahead of the game. When old man Winter finally takes a powder...it's time for this white boy to get his game on.

Now it is true, this spring at least, that me and the grass have been having some major smack downs.

The rain has been a major pain. Having to let the grass dry out enough to attempt to give it a hair cut.

It's like when your parents said "You need a hair cut."
Just take a little off the top. - you would tell the barber.

The barber would look at your dad, your dad would nod...

Oh no...not the nod.

You had a flat top hair cut that would rival a fresh cut lawn in May.

If you had a flat top, most kids would say you had a grass hair cut.

Uh B.D. where are you going with this?

That's simple Jethro...

The grass has just been getting a little off the top. Yesterday, it got a little more off the top. Tuesday, it's going to get a flat top hair cut.

I will finally be ahead of the game in that department. This will allow me to get to other things, which will in turn, allow me to cut down the size of my list, which will in turn, allow me to snow ball that forward momentum for optimal smack down, which in turn, will allow me to relax, enjoy the weather, cook, and goof off...

Oh yeah babe...

This & That...

Free at last, free at last...the whole world can kiss my ...

Well...

Things have been crazy for a while. But I am on the downhill slide.
(downhill slide is a southern slang for Woo-Hoo!!!)

We've been worked to death, and now we're being put out to pasture for a week. (southern slang for laid off)

Time to get some yard work done, drink some beer, do some cooking and forget the world. Dang...I've got a busy week ahead of me.

Better get started!

Pizza, Hot Wings & Onion Rings...

Sorry kids...it has been a mad house at work...

I won't rant or bitch or cuss or show my behind about the lunacy that has invaded my life these last few weeks because of work...

Like I said...in my line of work, I'm lucky to be working.

But...

I'm trying to stay (how should I say) mellow...

Trying my utmost...to stay calm...to keep my ship steady in a sea of turmoil...and the crashing waves of stupidity pound my ships hull with such force it endangers myself and my crew...

I will kid you not, it is the hardest thing I have ever done...

I have...in my lifetime, dealt with hardships and heartaches, pain and loneliness, love and hate, pride and prejudice, anger and stupidity...

But dealing every day, with a bunch of college educated idiots...

Takes every bit of stringent inner fortitude I can muster. This has become a major pain in the butt...for me, my family and my friends.

Right now, everything on (my end) is on hold...but the inner sanctum of stupidity still rears its ugly head and screws with my life...and my mind.

The war has started...

Weekend Report...

Sorry...I've been ignoring you.

What a week...

I'm trying to get things done in the yard - trying to get ahead of the grass (but I'm just barely keeping up with that) in between rain, work, ball practice, or some other bullshit...there is just not enough time.

I can't cook...

Seems like anytime I do get ahead...something comes up and puts me behind again. I've given up on trying to compete in any contest (BBQ) that just ain't going to happen.

I try to set it up and..."Oh sorry guys, we have to work 12 hour days and you just can't take any time off."

Now...in my field of work...I'm lucky to still have a job, but the idiots that call the shots there are going to get us all fired.

You know the old saying, Go with the flow, this is like trying to ride out the rinse and spin cycle of a washing machine without a seat belt.

Anyway...

Sorry...I've been ignoring you.

The sun is out right now but look at this...

It's coming.

Weekend Report...

For some folks...it will be an Easter weekend long remembered.

Multiple Tornado warnings and confirmed touch downs in many areas yesterday.

Two were killed (in Tenn.) a mother and her 9 week old baby and many people were hurt.

Dozens of homes destroyed and dozens more damaged. A line of storms grew in intensity as they came roaring from west to east and growing in size and ferocity and speed.

This was the second wave of storms to make its way through Tennessee in the same day.

We...(meaning us)...dodged the bullet this time, we only got heavy rain, but a few years back, we almost walked into a nightmare...

Only by the skin of our teeth...

Let us step back in time...a few years ago.

I was at work at the time and Julie had decided she and the little one would head to her mother's house. I had NOAA Weather Radar pulled up and was tracking the heavy line of storms heading right for our home. The forming tornado came down on the main road doing damage to buildings as it jumped across the hill and followed the hill line (that follows the road) crossing many side roads and tearing up a lot of trees and homes.

When I left work, it took me over three hours to get home. Every direction was blocked as this tornado did some pretty widespread damage. When I finally made it to the house, no damage, but no power. That was on a Friday. We later found out that the tornado was only a quarter mile from the house. The hills had kept it away.

God bless the "Hills of Tennessee"

My wife stayed with her mother...I stayed in the dark. Three days without power is not much to bitch about, knowing you still have a house and home. Knowing other folks have lost some or all of their things and some have to start over again for the umpteenth time...

The pure shock of ten minutes ago your home was fine...and now it's nothing but tooth picks and busted bricks and shattered dreams...

We are called the "Volunteer State" for one reason...in time of need when your neighbor is hurting, we volunteer our time, our hands & backs, our homes, our food and water, our hearts, and our prayers.

God bless Tennessee...

Simply Friday...

When I first saw this painting, years ago, it first sent a chill down my spine, then it made my heart cry...

Why is that?

It's a long story. One...that I'm sure I'll tell you...one of these days.

A journey that was long and hard and very painful for me at one point in my life. But once I started to put things together, the jigsaw puzzle of life began to fit together and I did discover that there are Angels and there is a God.

Trust me...

I'll tell you about it...some day...

Weekend Report...

What a week this has been...

Bowling Wednesday...I shot a 481.

Now...to you out there that thinks this might be a good series, sure it's good if you just bowl with a house ball once a week. To me...with a 200 average, this will not cut it.

It sucks wind...

I'm like Richard Petty...

I kicked butt for so many years...and then...never won anything else.

I can't figure out what happened...

Did...I not have enough beer in me?

Did...I have too much beer in me?

Whatever it may be...it has turned into a curse. I'm snake bit...

It's time for me to retire from something I use to love.

I met Julie (my lovely wife) from bowling. I met my girls from bowling, I met my friends from bowling.

I met my down fall...from bowling.

The pain and frustration I have become friends with will not be kind...

The King...has lost his shine.

Wordless Wednesday...

I told my wife the truth. I told her I was seeing a psychiatrist. Then she told me the truth: that she was seeing a psychiatrist, two plumbers, and a bartender. - Rodney Dangerfield
