This & That...

Hey B.D. what happened to the tunes?

As much as I enjoyed the music it became time consuming for me. So I pulled the plug...

Between the demands of my time from work, the demands of yard work around the house, the demands of this and that and whatever else comes to mind...

...I just don't have time anymore to refresh, rearrange, add or delete to the play list.

Heck sometimes I don't even have time to post here and I haven't posted on my three other blogs in I don't know when because of whatever.

But I do try to keep you up to date here.

So yes Jethro, the tunes are gone for now...

I'm busier than a bilge pump on a sinking ship right now. To prove that, when I do get and feel like cooking, it's on the gas grill, not the charcoal grill. You all know which one I prefer...

And poor Big Momma, just sits heart broken in the driveway all alone...waiting for the return of her Captain to restart the fire and smoke of her glory days that bring her to life and makes her purr like a sultry mistress wanting more.

But alas...it is not to be my love...not for awhile.

Right now I'm waiting for the grass to dry out so the motorized billy goat can do its thing. As next week will be 12 hour shifts again, Mon through Thurs.

The first weekend without rain but it's going to be hot and humid. We got to enjoy a few weeks of mid 70's but today will be mid to upper 80's and Sunday could reach mid 90's before backing off to lower 80's next week.

Then a three day weekend coming up...Woo Hoo!!!

Be lonely only a little longer Big Momma...your Captain will return to port on the 'morrow, with the wind at his back and a bright star to steer by. Your fire will burn again my love...

Wordless Wednesday...

We've all heard this story before. A man and a woman in love.
But it sounds a little different...when it's just you and I.

Weekend Report...

Well that pretty much tells it all...

Between a torrential downpour of rain and hail Friday and rain today, the weekend was a wash. Mr. Sunshine came out long enough Saturday for me to get out the motorized billy goat and do a quick mowing of the grass.

I started at 11 o'clock and was done by 1 o'clock.

But my neighbor procrastinated into the late afternoon and had to finish cutting his grass in the rain.

For some reason beyond me while I stood in the garage sucking on a cold libation high and dry, I shouted out to him: Do you want to borrow my umbrella?

He didn't think that was funny...

I guess his funny bone was just as wet as the rest of him was.

This & That...

Dang I do believe somebody is trying to drowned us hillbillies. Seems every weekend has been wet. Yesterday, it rained so hard we got 2 to 4 inches in 20 mins.

We also got hail too!

From penny size to golf ball size to baseball size to grapefruit size...that is no lie happened in Clarksville, that bad boy was huge. If that had of hit somebody it would of been like being hit by a small meteorite.

The news said it put a nice little hole in a car...ya think?

Anyway...

On the home front, all is calm as of right now except for Robyn being sick and Julie running a slight fever as well. Robyn has so many things going on, but I do believe she will be on the sidelines for a few days.

As for me...I'm still here.

I can still tell the rib is there. It's not sore, it's just sometimes aggravating. I really have to be careful about the way I twist and turn and lift.

Other words I can't act a fool...

...dang I never get to have any fun.

Fancy Hot Dogs...

From Simply Recipes

You can use any kind of hot dog. Kosher hot dogs are good. If you want to take the recipe up a notch, try it with a mild bockwurst sausage.

Ingredients

1 Tbsp butter (more if needed)
6 standard sized hot dogs (plan 1-2 per person, or fewer if you are serving kids), sliced into 1/4-inch to 1/2-inch thick slices
1/2 cup chopped yellow or sweet onion
2/3 cup sour cream
1/3 cup of water

Method

1--Melt butter in a large skillet (cast iron works well for this purpose) on medium high heat. Add the chopped onions and sliced hot dogs. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions and the hot dogs are nicely browned, 5-10 minutes.

2--Add the sour cream and water, stir until creamy. Heat until steamy.

Serve with cooked egg noodles, elbow macaroni, or favorite pasta.

Serves 4.

Weekend Report...

Well first off, Happy Mother's Day to all of you ladies out there that are moms.

And for those that are not moms, we still love you anyway.

What a week...

Flood waters have receded for the most part and the work begins. Some roads are still closed because of damage and some roads and bridges are completely gone. A lot of homes were flooded. Some even knocked clean off their foundations.

Clean up begins and people try to put their life back together.

Our house endured 18 inches of rain in 48 hours with no damage. Thank you Lord.

Many businesses were damaged as well...

We have lost power at work a few times. And in my trade of making glass, working with extreme heat and all of the sudden you lose power...is not a good thing.

You can't cross your fingers or play grab ass.

Things have got to be done in order and pronto...or major damage will result to millions of dollars worth of equipment. Times like that, you don't have time to think, instinct kicks in from years on the job.

...you can think afterwards.

So to say the least as to how life went last week?

Life is good...
Beer is better...

But I'm getting too old for this.

...seriously.

Happy Mother's Day!

Things have been so crazy...I mean it's unreal.

So, I'm so sorry. But please just hang in there. Keep checking, and I will do the best that I can.

I know most of you read me for my rants and cooking 101 and family life and for my gift of gab.

But trust me...

Things have been crazy.

I haven't updated i think of you as...or...Hillbilly Rib Runners in forever.

I'm way behind...but you know that already.

The Day After...

Well boys and girls, we got the rain. We got over 15 inches of rain in two days.

Half of Nashville Tennessee is under water.

Surrounding counties are under water. Roads are closed or washed out. Homes are flooded, businesses are flooded. Whole neighborhoods that have never been flooded in fifty years of people living there...are under water.

New homes, old homes, new cars, old cars, damn near everything...flooded.

It's a mess...

We're OK up here, just a few road closings, but it may be three or more days before we can get back to work. Interstates and roads nowhere near the river are flooded. Ditches turned into rivers, creeks turned into rivers, storm drains turned into rivers.

And now the rivers themselves have turned into an ocean of muddy water that is everywhere.

As you noticed...it rained last weekend for two days, but that was spread out over a forty-eight hour period. This time it rained nonstop for forty-eight hours straight.

And the damage done here will make the damage from Katrina look like a hiccup.

God bless everyone in Tennessee.
