Mac & Cheese Lasagna...

What you need:

2 pkgs KRAFT Macaroni & Cheese Dinner
3 cups spaghetti sauce (any brand/any type...your choice)
1 lb lean ground beef
2 cups KRAFT Shredded Low-Moisture Part-Skim Mozzarella Cheese
4 tbsp KRAFT Grated Parmesan Cheese

Instead of using the macaroni noodles from the Mac & Cheese, I actually used mini bow-tie pasta with the cheese packet from the dinner.

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Prepare mac & cheese according to package directions. Meanwhile, brown meat in skillet; drain. I added garlic powder to meat but you can add it or not.

Spoon half the mac & cheese into lightly greased 13 x 9 baking dish; top with layers of half each: sauce, meat and shredded cheese. Repeat layers. Sprinkle top with parmesan.

Bake for 20 min or until heated through.

Serve and enjoy!

Weekend Report...

It's a dang good thing I got the yard cut yesterday because it's sure wet today...

Went to the in-laws yesterday to celebrate two B-days, Leah and Dave, so Happy Birthday to them.

Dale was smoking some hamburgers (not grilling) and asked me if I had ever done it.

Nope, I replied...

Well we're fixing to find out if they're any good or not, he replied.

And they were mighty tasty indeed.

I guess this week, I need to kind of watch what I eat because I have to go back to the Doctor on Friday and be run through a battery of test that he just loves to put me through...

What a way to start a week...knowing that at the end of the week...there's a pair of latex gloves just waiting...with my name on them...

Pizza, Wings & Onion Rings...

Julie made a Mac & Cheese Lasagna Wednesday night that was very good.

Yeah...I know...

I had my doubts too, but this is not like a traditional lasagna. Oh it still has the sauce and the meat and the cheese and all that, but not the lasagna noodles.

Instead it has Bow tie pasta, mac & cheese, and a ton of Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese...

Since I was the Lab Rat this time instead of the White coat, I will get my lovely wife to post the recipe. I don't want to tell you wrong.

It was good and worthy of being put into the rotation of fine cuisine we enjoy here with a cold libation...or two...or three...

No seriously, it was good. I wonder how it would be...cooked on the pit? Gooey AND smoked. My Doctor would love that...

Well Mr. B.D. your test results came back and your cholesterol reading just set the world record for a human being that's still alive...

Weekend Report...

A sad day has entered the family life...

My brother-in-law Dave's father has passed away this weekend. All of us here are very sad for Dave, his mother, his sister, and of course Blondie and Leah.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you...

I've been through this and words will not help ease the pain nor the shock of this moment right now. Only know that we are always here for you...

Driving under the bun...

An Oscar Meyer Wienermobile crashed into the home and outdoor deck of Nick Krupp in Racine, Wis. on Friday morning, July 17, 2009. According to a witness, the vehicle was parked in the driveway.

The driver lurched the vehicle forward instead of backing out of the driveway, hitting Krupp's deck and cracking the foundation of his house. (AP Photo/Journal Times, Tom McCauley)

This & That...

It's that time again...

To be poked and prodded again by the good doctor. (Yee-Haw)

As you can see...my enthusiasm runneth over...

All he does is bitch at me. "Stop drinking, stop smoking, stop eating this, stop eating that.."

Jeez Doc...just go ahead and shoot me now.

I know I've been rough on my body, I feel the aches and pains every day.

The drugs (way back in the day) the smokes, the beer, the unhealthy (but oh so good) food.

But I've done better...honest.

I haven't done any drugs in over 30 years.

Yes, I still smoke, but not as much. I've gone from the habit of three packs of smokes a day (years ago) to less than a pack a day.

Yes, I still drink.

Not because I'm alcoholic but because I like the taste of beer. I have been known to down a quantity of the libation from time to time.

But never falling over drunk...although...I have been three sheets in the wind a few times.

And yes, I don't eat healthy.

Too many years of eating poor mans steak (bologna), greasy grilled cheese, greasy bacon and eggs, greasy sausage, greasy hamburgers, greasy meatloaf, fatty red meat, greasy fried chicken...my plumbing is stopping up.

I take high blood pressure medicine and have to have my heart checked from time to time.

But I'm doing better Doc...honest.

If cutting this lawn with a push mower don't kill me, nothing will...

Simply Tuesday...

Well...

I got a surprise in the mail yesterday.

My buddy Robert from Brooklyn, New York (aka) WhiteTrashBBQ sent me a T-shirt from the Big Apple Barbecue Block Party. And also a big bottle of Rudy's Rub.

I will try it on a brisket next time I cook one.

I have enjoyed Trash's blog for years and I have sent him some of my own rub that he used in competition and did pretty decent with it in pulled pork.

The Block Party is a big shindig in New York as some of the best cooks in the world gather to cook and feed some awesome "Q" to the fine folks up North.

Trash, (as I call him) will tell you like it is, no matter what the subject. He is all about cooking, BBQ, and the facts of life in New York and beyond...

So check out his blog and tell him Big Daddy sent you to his neck of the woods.

Thanks brother...

The gifts are well appreciated to this lowly old country boy.

Weekend Report...

Got the grass cut yesterday (and just in time I might add) before it rained again. A passing thunder storm woke me up about 3:30 this morning.

I really can't complain about the rain because we have had some years where it has rained in the spring and not a drop during the summer.

After years of spending money on weed killer and fertilizer to have a very lush yard, it never rained. I stopped doing that two years ago and low and behold, it won't stop raining now...

The yard has reverted back to farmland style grass and clover is taking over everything. Go figure...

When grass has been country grass for so long, no matter what you do to turn it into city grass, it will rebel on you. It will just go poof and dry up and die. I have sown grass seed after grass seed to no avail. So I gave up...

I think he called it quits boys. It's time to party!

And so they did...and country grass has reclaimed its territory and rightful place in my yard. It was a one sided battle that I never had a chance of winning.

But...

I still control the lawn mower.

Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha...

Pizza, Wings and Onion Rings...

Julie and my girls are headed out to bowl in Columbia this afternoon, so good luck to them. I'm headed outside to cut grass, so good luck to me...

I've got to also clean all of my grills this weekend. They could use a bath and wash behind the ears. I'm going to have to trim the landscaping again here shortly as all the rain we had really made it grow like the grass.

My work is never done.

If only I was a kid again...(sigh)

Weekend Report...

It was hot yesterday. Even more so when you have your huge pit rolling on, but let's talk about timing...

We time this, we time that, but you can never time Mother Nature and her daughter Rain. Yesterday, I just barely beat daughter Rain...

Ribs, beans and wings came off the pit at 5 o'clock. By 5:30 it was pouring down rain. I timed that just right.

Other times I have not been so lucky...

I've been washed out of my shorts a few times and I have learned to look at NOAA Radar for the most accurate storm updates, http://www.nws.noaa.gov/

Most weather gurus around here said "It might pass through at this time or that time and we just have a hard time predicting these things."

Doesn't look like NOAA has that much trouble. They update all the time...

Our local TV smiley faces depend on a computer model that ain't right half the time.

So I no listen to these people no more...

Talk about timing...
