Here's a sweeter, slightly thicker version of a traditional South Carolina sauce.
Few "red" sauces are allowed in the Carolinas.
1 cup apple cider vinegar
2/3 cup prepared mustard
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon white pepper
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
Stir together first 8 ingredients in a sauce pan over med. heat, bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer 10 mins.
Remove from heat, and stir in butter and soy sauce.
Serve with barbecued pork or chicken.
Yield: about 2 cups.
Enjoy!!!
